First printing has the letter "A" and the Scribner's seal on the copyright page. The price "$3.00" appears at the top of the front flap of the dust jacket. In later printings of the dust jacket, deep blue ink in photograph of Hemingway changed to olive. Some bibliographies mention that first issue has two lines of production symbols at the end of a text on the rear flap of the dust jacket. This point was not proven to be true. As a matter of fact, BOMC edition appears to have the same symbols at the end of the text.
